Let a favourite theme be the starting point

Knowing a little about what will happen can help a child look forward to visiting somewhere new.

Perhaps they love seasonal decorations, making things, or games played together. We use each session’s theme and activities to create moments that make children think, ‘I’d like to try that.’

Themes and activities vary by date. When you see a session that interests you, talk with your child about what they might enjoy trying.

Shared play can open the door to friendship

Even when children have just met, playing the same game or making something side by side can offer a way to start talking.

‘Your turn next.’ ‘That’s a lovely colour.’ Play creates small moments to share an idea, listen to someone else, or make space for another child.

These exchanges are little steps in learning to connect. We do not expect every child to make instant friends with everyone. Simply enjoying time in the same space is something to value.

Hands-on crafts make room for individuality

Alongside games, some sessions include crafts. Choosing colours, arranging materials and sticking pieces together: each small decision shows something of a child’s preferences.

Even with the same theme, the finished pieces will look different. The process matters, too—which colour was hard to choose, or what they hoped to make. Those stories can become something to share at home.

A chance to discover what captures their interest

Sometimes a child’s interests become clearer simply by watching them play.

One child may become absorbed in choosing materials; another might enjoy thinking about a game’s rules. Someone who is quiet at first may come alive during an active game. You might notice a side of them you have not seen before.

At Lumina, we value that spark of ‘I want to do more.’ There is no need to decide straight away whether a child is good at something. Start with an experience they can enjoy.

A little time for parents while children take part

Drop-off participation is available, giving parents time for shopping or a café nearby. Please confirm age requirements, participation conditions and what to bring before booking.

If unfamiliar places or being apart from a parent feel difficult for your child, tell us a little about their usual needs. We can discuss a way of joining in that suits them before the visit.
