Dance, freeze and start again
Give everyone enough space to stretch their arms without touching. Put on a song and invite children to move in their own spot. Pause the music for a pose, then start it again for another round.
Some versions eliminate anyone who moves, but you can keep everyone in the game and enjoy a new pose each time. Sharing a laugh at a surprising statue can be the whole point.
Try animal or space-themed poses
Add a prompt such as “Penguin!” or “Astronaut!” Children might spread their arms or pretend to take slow steps. Open-ended prompts give each child room for their own ideas.
Draw animal cards first, then pick one to choose the next pose. The craft becomes part of the game. A child who would rather not dance can help draw a card or choose when to pause the music.
