No dance experience needed

You do not have to teach a routine. Games that copy or invent movements are another way to enjoy music together.

  • Let one child choose a pose for everyone to copy.
  • Work in pairs to mirror each other’s movements.
  • Pretend to walk in slow motion or move like robots to the music.

The fun is in deciding what to try next, rather than getting the steps right. Leave enough space between children and choose movements they can do in their own spot.

Choose colours and make the decorations

For younger children, try a colourful dance party in a well-lit room. Cut neon-coloured paper into stars or circles and join them into a garland or backdrop.

If you dim the room, keep enough light to see the floor and surroundings. Check the age guidance and instructions for any glowing accessories you use.
