Prepare your little salon

Arrange soft-coloured towels and a handmade sign on a table. The activities here are crafts and pretend play, rather than treatments applied to children’s skin.

  • Decorate a paper eye-mask shape with stars or flowers.
  • Draw hands on paper and design colourful patterns on the paper fingernails.
  • Create a menu with imaginary options such as a “Big Smile Package.”

Let children help choose the salon’s name and colours from the start.

Take turns as the host and the guest

Once the salon is ready, welcome a pretend customer. Children can introduce their menu, ask which colours their guest likes and take turns in each role. It is another way to share what they have made.

Finish by displaying favourite designs for a photo. The theme can feel special while keeping the creativity entirely children’s own.
