At a glance

  • Combine a useful stationery item, a small toy and a personal card.
  • Check the school’s policies, product age guidance and any material or skin sensitivities.
  • Pack and count ahead so teachers can hand out the bags easily.

How to Pack Great Non-Candy Favor Bags at Home

A good favour bag does not need to be full. Focus on a few things children can draw with, play with or use to make the celebration their own.

  • Choose a bag that suits the contents. Small flat-bottom paper bags or sturdy pouches are easy to arrange and carry. Around 15 × 20 cm can be a useful starting point, but check the size against the items and the children’s school bags.
  • Anchor the bag with something useful. Colourful pencils and Halloween-themed erasers give children a little invitation to draw and create after the party.
  • Include a playful tactile toy. We included Halloween pop-it toys alongside the stationery. Choose items that suit the children’s ages and the school’s rules, and check for small detachable parts.
  • Add a festive finishing touch. Our bags also included a Lumina original card and temporary tattoo stickers. Keep tattoo stickers in their labelled packaging for families to use later, following the manufacturer’s directions and with a parent’s permission.

Three Classroom Details Worth Checking

  • Start with the school’s policy. Non-food gifts avoid the need to distribute edible treats, but they are not automatically allergy-free or suitable for every child. Check school guidance and any material or skin sensitivities; a paper card or drawing activity is a simple alternative to a wearable gift.
  • Choose for the actual age group. Look at each product’s age label and instructions. Avoid noisy items, brittle toys and small parts that could be inappropriate for younger children; a single age label will not suit every class.
  • Pre-assemble and pre-count. Teachers rarely have time to divide loose gifts between bags at morning drop-off. Packing individual bags and a few spares makes distribution easier at the agreed time.

For wearable gifts, keep the ingredient label and application instructions with the item so families can decide what suits their child. The FDA’s temporary tattoo guidance offers further information about ingredients and skin reactions.

What to Expect from a Lumina Soirée Gift Bag

If you would rather leave the sourcing and assembly to us, we can bring the same care to a birthday, school milestone or seasonal celebration.

  • Thoughtfully selected contents. We discuss the recipients’ ages, school requirements and your preferences before suggesting stationery, toys and packaging. A few well-chosen items can make a lovely gift.
  • Coordinated styling and personal tags. Ask us about custom-printed bags, ribbon ties, personalised tags and stickers to match your child’s colours, a party theme or a school celebration.
  • A connection with our community. Hand-packing more than 500 bags for nearby schools brought our team together around a shared wish: more little Halloween smiles for families in our neighbourhood.
